Fraud Prevention

It will go over the newest fraud scheme where criminals are posing as owners of property and contacting agents to list it. It will discuss the red flags agents should be aware of and what type of properties are being targeted. The course also goes over what title companies can and should be doing to help prevent this type of fraud as well as what real estate agents can do. The class then will cover wire fraud which is still attempted in many real estate transactions. Additionally will discuss what hackers are doing to try to have funds from a real estate transaction sent to their bank account from the buyer or the settlement company. The class encourages agents to abstain from sending wire instructions to their clients and to make sure their email is secure.
